SAILING AREAS

The Aegean coast has far too many great places to mention here but the two routes below give a good flavour of the area and are typical of the flotilla itineraries from Bodrum.

During the Summer months sailing conditions are ideal with an almost-clockwork NW 4-5 wind which starts mid-morning and dies away in the evening. Early and late season winds tend to be lighter, although a little less predictable.

For bareboaters, our staff will happily share their local knowledge with a comprehensive chart briefing to assist you in planning your route.

GŐKŐVA Korfezi Route (approx 125nm)

Bodrum: a lively resort town with many bars and restaurants, and an excellent modern marina from where all of our Monday flotillas start and end.

Körmen: is a small ferry harbour with a great fish restaurant right on the quay. Prior to dinner welcome drinks are held in the restaurant so flotilla guests can meet the crews of the other yachts.

yük Çati: a beautiful bay with no restaurant where the flotilla boats raft together and spend the night cooking aboard – a perfect hideaway; idyllic.

English Harbour: a picturesque, pine-fringed, sheltered inlet with just a couple of restaurants, famous for its glorious sunsets.

Lönguz: a secluded creek where hidden in the woods is Ali’s bbq. This tends to be a particular favourite amongst guests for the rustic atmosphere, great food, and possibly even a sing song around the fire after dinner!

A nearby alternative is Akbük, a dramatic setting with a gently sweeping shingle beach where steep mountains plunge vertically into the sea – a picture of rural Turkey, with goats on the beach! The recommended lunch stop for the day is Castle Island where you can visit Cleopatra's Beach or wander amongst the shady olive groves to discover the ruined amphitheatre then snorkel in the clear waters amongst the ancient amphorae.

Çökertme: the final evening’s stop prior to returning to Bodrum, is a small village in a beautiful setting surrounded by mountains. . There is a choice of restaurants, one of which is home to the rogueish Captain Ibrahim, famous for his traditional Turkish hospitality and (unique!) entertainment.

HISARONU Korfezi Route (approx 140nm)

Bodrum: a lively resort town with many bars and restaurants, and an excellent modern marina from where all of our Monday flotillas start and end.

Ova Bükü is a small hamlet with a couple of restaurants and a wooden T-jetty tucked right into the sheltered corner of Kalaboshi Bay. Pre-dinner drinks are held at the bar at Ogűn's Place so that guests on different boats may meet before their meal.

Dirsek is a stunning bay with crystal clear water only reachable by boat with no facilities other than the single restaurant, famous for its jumbo prawns fried with garlic and other delicious sea food!  Perfect for swimming in the phosphorescence or watching the stars at night after dinner once the generator is turned off.

Orhaniye: a spectacular setting nestled amongst the mountains. Nearby lunchtime stops include Bencik, a stunning creek with turquoise waters perfect for cooling off after a bite to eat.

Datça: the biggest place visited besides Bodrum with a large selection of restaurants, bars and some lively discos.  Trips can be arranged to the fascinating Old Datça village and local olive farm. There is also the chance to visit the Hamam, enjoy the full works at the Barbers, and stock up on provisions at the colourful market.

Palamut: an enchanting fishing village with a well protected man-made harbour and a long shingle beach where you’ll be treated to the best grilled fish to be found anywhere, and if you’re lucky top class belly dancing! A minibus trip can be arranged to Kinidos, the ancient ruined city.
